Learning journeys

More than a series of lessons.

A Learning Journey is a set of private lessons connected by a shared purpose. Here’s what you can book, what it includes, and what it costs.

Discover → Design → Learn → Practice → Reflect

Not a course to fit into. A journey we shape together.

A Journey isn’t a straight line. It evolves with you, based on what we notice and what you tell me.

A winding board-game path with five numbered stops, Discover, Design, Learn, Practice and Reflect, running from a Start marker to a Paris cityscape, with a ladder linking two parts of the path.
  1. Discover.

I start by understanding where you are, what brings you to French, and what you want to be able to do.

  2. Design.

I adapt the Journey and lesson design based on where you are and what we’ve learned so far, choosing the topics, activities, and language skills that make sense for what comes next.

  3. Learn.

I guide you through the learning process. We work together through conversation, grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, and listening.

  4. Practice.

You practice French during the lesson, through conversation, comprehension, exercises, and activities that help you use what you’re learning. Practice may also continue between lessons when useful.

  5. Reflect.

We look at what worked, what felt challenging, and what we learned from the lesson. Your feedback and my observations help shape the next steps of your Journey.

Formats and prices

Session length, then commitment.

First choose 60 or 90 minutes, then a 5- or 10-session Journey. Neither is better. It’s a question of fit: your goals, your pace, and your availability.

How much time feels right for you?

A focused format for regular progress.

How long would you like your Journey to be?

  • Lesson plans adjusted to your needs and progress
  • Continuity from one lesson to the next
  • A shared choice of what to focus on next

French in everyday life

What a lesson feels like

Active, practical, and built around what you want to do with your French.

Bonjour !Je voudrais…Le menu

A little French before your trip?

We might practice ordering in a restaurant: a realistic conversation, useful expressions, and pronunciation. We explore the grammar when it helps.

Another lesson might focus on a presentation, a piece of writing, or a conversation about your interests.

  • Conversation & guided conversation
  • Grammar & vocabulary
  • Pronunciation
  • Reading & listening
  • Writing & correction
  • Role-play & real-life situations
  • Review & targeted practice
  • Topics connected to your interests

Want to try a lesson first?

After your Discovery Session, you can book a one-time Try-out Session before choosing a longer Journey. It’s optional: you can also go straight to a Journey.

60-minute Try-out Session
$85
90-minute Try-out Session
$125

Available once per person, after a Discovery Session.

If you decide within 30 days to continue with a 5- or 10-session Journey, your Try-out Session becomes the first session of that Journey. You simply pay the difference between what you have already paid and the selected package.

Practical details

Good to know.

Lessons are available online or in person in Brookline and Boston. General availability: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Eastern Time (ET).

How often should I take lessons?

Lesson frequency is flexible. We find a rhythm that fits your goals, availability, and pace, and you schedule your next lesson as we go. If you are doing written work between lessons, I generally recommend leaving some time between sessions.

Can I choose between 60- and 90-minute sessions?

Yes. Both 60- and 90-minute sessions are available. We can choose the format that makes the most sense for your goals, pace, and availability.

What is included in a Journey?

Each Journey includes more than the time we spend together in lessons: we review your progress, exchange feedback, and adapt the next lessons and the wider Journey together, so each session builds on the last.

Can I try a lesson before choosing a Journey?

Yes. After your free Discovery Session, you can book a one-time 60- or 90-minute Try-out Session. If you decide within 30 days to continue with a 5- or 10-session Journey, that session becomes your first session and you simply pay the difference.

How do payments work?

Packages are paid in advance via Venmo or Zelle. A 5-session Journey is paid in full before the first session. A 10-session Journey can be paid in full or in two equal payments: the first before the first session and the second before the sixth session. We arrange this directly after the Discovery Session.

Are lessons or packages refundable?

Lessons and packages are non-refundable.

How long are packages valid?

Packages are valid for two years from the date of purchase.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule a lesson. Late cancellations and missed lessons are normally counted as used.
