Nice to meet you
A little about me, and how I teach.
Let me introduce myself. I’ll share a bit of my story and how I came to teach French, then how I teach and what a lesson looks like when we’re together.
About me

Bonjour, I’m Anne-Sophie Moulin.
I’m a native French speaker based in Brookline, MA. My path to teaching wasn’t a straight line, and that’s a big part of how I teach.
Before becoming a French teacher, I spent about eleven years working for a large French company based in France, first in software development and later as a Scrum Master, where I focused on coaching and facilitating individuals and teams within an Agile environment. Over time, my work became increasingly centered on people: helping individuals grow, supporting teams, facilitating collaboration, and creating the conditions for people to learn and work well together. I also had the opportunity to work across cultures and with international teams, which strengthened my interest in the ways people communicate, collaborate, and learn from one another.
As a Scrum Master, I often found myself acting as a teacher, coach, and mentor. I enjoyed explaining Agile concepts, helping people make sense of complex things, asking the right questions, adapting my approach, and helping individuals and teams become more confident and independent.
When I moved to Boston in 2022, I returned to something I had always enjoyed: teaching. I began teaching French at the French Library, part of the Alliance Française of Boston and Cambridge, where I worked with private and group classes from beginner to advanced levels, both online and in person. Today, I teach French independently, offering private one-to-one lessons in Brookline, Boston, and online.
I bring many of the same values from my previous work into my French teaching: listening carefully, paying attention to how each person learns, adapting when something isn’t working, and creating a supportive environment where learners can become increasingly autonomous.
I love helping you make sense of the parts of French that once felt confusing, and noticing the moment when something finally clicks. I’m genuinely curious about how people learn. Clarity, autonomy, and steady improvement matter to me, and I care about the small details that make French finally click for you.
How I teach
French you can hear, understand, and use.
I use French from the beginning, adjusting my vocabulary, speaking speed, questions, and repetition to your level. I clarify in English when it helps.
We work with guided conversation, useful vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, and exercises. Grammar has a place when it helps you make sense of what you’re using.
Different ways of making things click.
Some learners want to understand a verb pattern before trying it in conversation. Others prefer to hear examples, talk, and notice the pattern as they go. I pay attention to what helps you.
Corrections can be immediate, or saved for later so you can keep speaking. The pace, resources, balance of activities, and support in English depend on you.
